Buying a Cocker Spaniel puppy means seeing the litter with its mother. That is a legal requirement under Lucy's Law, not a courtesy. Ask for health results on both parents rather than the puppies: for Cocker Spaniels that means BVA hip scores, an annual eye test, and DNA results for FN, PRA-prcd and AMS. Reputable breeders will have microchipped and first-vaccinated the pups before they leave, and will happily talk about what the parents actually do in the field rather than only how they look. Take your time. A good Cocker Spaniel litter is worth waiting for.
